“The impact I’d like to make on Allegheny is that it continues to thrive. This is an institution that has been here for centuries, and it is my hope that it will continue to be. It has such a large impact on students, but also the communities that surround it. And my hope is that our continued involvement as alumni really allows this place to just continue to be the great place it is.”

Spotlight On Your Impact

Dan Donahoe ’11

“I owe everything to Allegheny. I want current and future Gators to have the same opportunities.”

When Dan Donahoe ’11 learned about the In for Allegheny: Our Pathway Forward campaign, he was moved to make a life-changing decision: to create an endowed scholarship for future Allegheny students. His motivation? He explains:

“It’s simple, really: I firmly believe that money should not be an obstacle when an individual is pursuing education. Education is not a nonrenewable resource that should be hoarded and only available to those able to pay the highest price. Education is meant to be shared and available to the masses. No one should have to struggle to attain an education. The fewer roadblocks, including monetary ones, the better.”

This scholarship will provide enduring financial support to future students. Dan is inspired to invest in his alma mater and create a lasting legacy, encouraging others to follow suit.

“As stated in the movie Gladiator: ‘What we do now echoes in eternity.’ This moment in Allegheny’s history is really bigger than any of us because it is our opportunity to create a legacy, to provide for the future of our alma mater. Whenever I am back on campus I am reminded at every turn just why I loved my four years there so much. I want future students to find their reason or reasons to love Allegheny, too. That is what being ‘In’ is about. There’s no one other than the alumni to care for the future of Allegheny and its future students.”
