Phil St. Moritz ’61 Center for Innovation at Reis Hall
After serving our community for more than 122 years, Reis Hall awaits its next chapter. In alignment with strategic pathway goals around Academic Excellence and Strong Outcomes, Broadening Student Audience and Academic Offerings, and Community & Economic Development in the Meadville community, Reis is poised to welcome the Allegheny Lab for Innovation and Creativity (ALIC) and the Computer and Information Science Department.
Renovation
This historic renovation follows in the footsteps of Cochran Hall, now the Patricia Bush Tippie Alumni Center, and the College’s beloved Bentley Hall. The success of this campaign will enable Reis to take its rightful place in the future of Allegheny by merging creative and critical thinking with technology. ALIC will both serve the campus and provide learning opportunities to those in our surrounding region.
Phase One of the Reis Hall renovation project began in January 2025 and wrapped up in November. This initial phase focused on weatherproofing the building and laying the groundwork for the next stage of work. Major accomplishments included installation of a new geothermal well field and control room on the east side, complete roof and window replacements, masonry cleaning and restoration, and updates to utilities and grading around the site. Crews also exposed the west plaza, added accessible sidewalks, and completed interior demolition and discovery to ensure a thorough design process for Phase Two — which is scheduled for completion in November 2026.
